June Bug!

Time has flown by and I realized that I haven't blogged for June. Now, its the middle of July, Ha! I have been so busy with Young Women's Camp and getting ready to move to Michigan that time has seriously caught the best of me. Sometimes that happens, I guess. Well I entitled this blog post June Bug, and for a very special reason. This month's pillow is dedicated to a very special family and very special cause. About year and a half ago, this family lost their youngest daughter and sister in a devastating car accident. To help her siblings cope with her passing, they attend a counseling center called The Sharing Place. To help give back for the loving care they have received, this family volunteered to help the center in their upcoming fundraising benefit and silent auction. In memory of this family's sweet little one, they will be putting together a "Lady Bug" themed basket, because she absolutely loved lady bugs... I received word regarding this fundraiser a couple of months ago and I too wanted to help this sweet family and center. I asked if I could donate a Pleated Pillow to their themed basket that will be up for auction this coming Fall. I was given the okay and I went to work.

I picked out a darling pillow with a leaf design and made an entire Lady Bug out of rosettes. I did make one mistake, however. I thought lady bug spots were white, but come to find out their spots are black, Ha! Silly me. You will see the two pictures, the one in the finished bag, is the completed pillow. This pillow was probably my favorite pillow to make, thus far. When I gave the pillow to this little girl's mom, she accepted the gift with tears in her eyes. My heart was filled with pure love for her and for the struggles that she has and is still overcoming. I will always remember this sweet family and their little Lady Bug!
